Contains copies of grant proposals, surveys, correspondence, guides, memoranda and other reports from the RLIN/AMC project in the Harvard University Library (NHPRC grant 8511). In 1983 the Harvard University Library submitted a proposal to the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) seeking funds to participate in the Archives/Manuscripts database of the Research Libraries Information Network (RLIN). One of the primary goals of the project was to survey archival and manuscript collections from over 50 repositories at Harvard and Radcliffe so that collection level records could be described in RLIN. These descriptions in the utility would improve accessibility of these resourses to researchers. Another goal was to create a printed guide based on the results of the automation project. Finally, the project also intended to facilitate and enhance communication among the libraries at Harvard University and Radcliffe College.
